Pre-Act 9 Retirees need a COLA NOW!
In conjunction with the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO, AFSCME Council 13, Association of Pennsylvania State College & University Facilities, SEIU, UFCW Local 1776, Pennsylvania State Education Association, and the Pennsylvania Professional Firefighter Association, we are calling for a Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA) for all pre-Act 9 Retirees in Pennsylvania!
SIGN THE PETITION NOW: Pre-Act 9 Retirees DESERVE a Cost-of-Living-Adjustment
What is a pre-Act 9 Retiree?
Act 9 was legislation that increased the pension multiplier for SERS and PSERS employees. A pre-Act 9 Retiree is someone who retired before Act 9 was passed in 2001. This is about 69,000 Pennsylvania public service retirees who often have chosen not to take Social Security and are receiving pensions less than $20,000/year.
Because of that, we are calling for support from Pennsylvania State Legislatures of House Bill 1416 and Pennsylvania State Senators of Senate Bill 952, which would provide a COLA for all pre-Act 9 retirees. Getting a COLA for pre-Act 9 retirees is a step in the right direction for a COLA for ALL retired public employees of Pennsylvania.
